In Africa, the world’s second most populous continent, dance is as vast and varied as the continent’s many regions, languages, people, and cultural practices. The art of African dance is inseparable from music and informs the spirituality, lifestyles, societies, cultural traditions, politics, and identities of many African people, and it is an essential element of their cultural heritage.
