A cultural revival is a resurgence or rebirth, in scope, intensity, or both, of a particular cultural principle or practice or a set of principles and practices. It may also be a noticeable increase in general awareness and performance of a broad range of cultural behaviors or the reawakening in these ways of an entire culture. A cultural revival follows a period of relative decline or decadence or, in rare cases, of almost complete abeyance or even extinction. The clearest indicator of cultural revival is a significant increase in the extent and/or intensity of a practice, discussion, or other forms of awareness, practice, ownership, and influence of a culture where comparatively little, or even none, existed before.
