EGG DONATION IS not a new area of research. It has been one of the methods to address infertility for many years. Donors of both eggs and sperm have been compensated when the donations were used for the purpose of infertility, but despite this payment, there has been a lack of major discussion on the payment policy.
In the United States, the subject of reproduction has been self—regulated, mostly through the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. The society has agreed that the payment for egg donation should range between $3000 and $5000. This is in contrast to some countries, including Canada, where payment for egg donation is prohibited.
