Hubble Space Telescope

No other name but that of astronomer Edwin Hubble would have better fit the telescope that more than any other has deeply influenced our collective imagination over the last two decades. In 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) became the first optical telescope to be put into orbit, and it has revolutionized the way we look at the cosmos. After its wobbly beginnings, the most famous space observatory in history was destined to influence a new generation of sky lovers and change the perspectives on the universe of everyone from professional astronomers to laypeople.
