Relational Health Communication Competence Model

The relational health communication competence (RHCC) model was introduced in 1988 in an article about relational communication in health care that was published in the Southern Speech Communication Journal by health communication scholar Gary Kreps. This model has been widely used to describe and predict the influences of consumer-provider communication on important health outcomes. The model provides a graphically clear visual representation of the influences of the relative quality of communication interactions between key participants in the delivery of health care on important outcomes of health care.
