Hamilton, Phyllis J. (1952-)
In 1952 Phyllis J. Hamilton was born in Jacksonville, Illinois. She moved to California to study for her bachelor's degree at Stanford University. Upon her graduation in 1974, she began her postgraduate work at Santa Clara University School of Law. After receiving her J.D. in 1976, she became the deputy public defender for California's Office of the Public Defender. After a brief stint as the Manager of E.E.O. Programs at Farinon Electric Corporation in 1980, she became an administrative judge for the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board in the San Francisco Regional Office. From 1985 to 1991 she was the court commissioner for the municipal court in the Oaklandpiedmont-Emeryville Judicial District.
