Williams, Jeanne (1930-)
Jeanne Williams was born Dorothy Jean Kreie in Elkhart, Kansas, the daughter of Guy and Louella Kreie. She is a writer of fiction under the numerous pseudonyms Megan Castell, Jeanne Crecy, Jeanne Foster, Kristin Michael, Deirdre Rowan, and J. R. Williams.
Williams's writing consists of juvenile fiction, Gothic novels, historical romances, and historical novels told from a feminine point of view. She was first published in 1952 while a student at the University of Oklahoma. Her writing has won many awards, including the Silver Spur and Golden Saddleman awards for The Horse Talker. She also has won the Juvenile Award of the Texas Institute of Letters and the University of Oklahoma Professional Writers' Award.
